The official way to rate a map. Take these into consideration while rating a map so it is less of an opinion and more of an official rating.

----------------------------------------------------

Fun / Balance / 10

----------------------------------------------------

Trigger Work / 10

----------------------------------------------------

Terrain / 10

----------------------------------------------------

Originality / 10

----------------------------------------------------

Extras / 5

----------------------------------------------------

Professionalism / 5

----------------------------------------------------

Rater's Tilt / 3 (Rater may add or subtract up to 3 points for any appropriate reason they find)

----------------------------------------------------

Using this system, the best possible grade is 53/50.

----------------------------------------------------

Subtract points for up to 5 for each issue below :
No description of how to play
Long DL time (unless the music is crucial in the game)

Map may not be rated if :
Incomplete
Has glitches which ruin game play

----------------------------------------------------

Fun - Fun is based on what others in the map making community would think of this map in terms of enjoyment, with a little of your own personal taste.

----------------------------------------------------

Trigger Work - Try to notice the basic trigger work and advanced as well. Since map making has improved, it's easy to spot sexy triggers.

----------------------------------------------------

Terrain - Awesome looking terrain. Is it appealing, and does it blend in easily? Smoothness on the eyes also helps.

----------------------------------------------------

Originality - This is a bit difficult. It's really hard to come by so you have to be lenient. Usually one will show an RPG, Defence, and/or a bound. Don't base it on that. Base it on how they mix it up, add an interesting story, defense using creative idea and triggers etc..

----------------------------------------------------

Extras - Examples: Music, Overlaps, Friend's Spot, Information Briefing, Being Creative, etc.. It's based on how well done they are and how many there are. One extra that is near perfect is NOT a perfect 5 / 5.

----------------------------------------------------

Professionalism - Your view on the whole map. Is it well organized? Glitchiness also plays a factor. If it is very glitchy, then this rating will go down. Try to be professional while rating this.

----------------------------------------------------

for some reason it won't let me change this, but this needs some editing. For one, it's not Oo bonus, it's "Rater's Tilt" where if a rater likes the map or dislikes the map, they have a 3 point margin to add or subtract.

Although it isn't, not necessarily.. if you like the map, you'll give it a high enough rating, though.

not really. i thought some maps were really fun but only gave it 30 something because of the lack of triggers but decent terrain. If you grade on just personal preference than that won't go very well.

Fixed the wording on some categories, and added when the map cannot be rated, and where points are subtracted.

Can a map be re-rated if the maker got a bad note?

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
