x Updated shoutbox main as well, which was the primary goal... but since I was in the area, I decided to add something new and different.
x And we can finally delete shouts, so, the more idiotic spam can be deleted now. ;o
x The ajax status box no longer pops up for shouts, as status text is already in the shoutbox area. No need for it to exist twice.

. I used the item, didn't work.
Also, reverse the list so that last shouts are on the last page, so you can directly link to a page that will remain static. Maybe display the last page first, but make it so that the last page is where new shouts appear.

Shout colors should indeed work. Nerdy and MasterJohnny have them. Check shoutbox settings and make sure you are using a valid color. Try AAAAAA to test.
Static pages, I'll make a note of that and contemplate any other solutions other than reversing the list.
To get an icon, become admin ;o The idea was supposed to be a possible store item... but Moose wants admin distinction, so the icons exist now.

It's just a quick way to private message someone if you are already talking to them via shoutbox.

Isn't sending a pm also a quick way to message someone? Or does the whisper command just a type /whisper thatname so its even faster than going to the pm. It is kind of ironic you can have private conversations on a shout box now

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
