Who knows if there are custom campaigns or maps based on the books? (Queen of Blades, I - Mengsk and etc.)
I know nothing for SC but there's the Redux campaign for SC2 which crosses Enslavers and the Dark Templar Saga material.
Trial and error... mostly error.
This is the only thing I know, at least in my language, I think they plan to translate it

But unfortunately I can't play sc2, only sc1 because of the weak computer.
