Firegraft replaces cmdicons

So, I have my own modified cmdicons.grp (the grp that contains all icons), but when I put it on patch_rt.mpq, firegraft ignores it.

I tried putting it on firegraft data.mpq but it crashes (the moment you play a map)

Any way to solve this?

I have found that using custom command icons with FireGraft will result in a crash if, in FireGraft itself, you are displaying the icons.

That is, what you ought to do is load StarCraft.exe with FireGraft in the first place, set FireGraft to use whatever command icon GRP you have, make the edits and change FireGraft back to "use from MPQ" for command icons.

Then just do 'Save as...' and copy in your desired MPQ.

Also, I don't know what you're doing with patch_rt, but I can't think of anything that would really make messing with it a good idea.

I've displayed custom icons in FireGraft before. Works fine.

What I mean is that it appears that, if you have FireGraft set to use a particular custom .grp (so you can properly preview it, since FireGraft acts extremely fussy with loading from MPQ's), the executable it creates will happily crash.

Thanks everyone, I think somehow I crashed my firegraft permanently so I will have to make all the requirements again.

No worries though, doesn't take more than an hour.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

Did you corrupt your .fgp inside the mpq or what? Maybe you can send it and we could open it and savage whatever we can?

fuck you all

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

I'm not worried, I just wanted to reply because I want more minerals.

Also... to help, possibly, but mostly the minerals, really.

You use them 1. to showoff and 2. to buy things from the SEN Store, items that allow you things like colored name, colored text, etc...

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
