So yeah, I'll be making a short trip to chicago and I'd like to ask you all what's there to see, eat, drink, etc?

If anyone's in chicago and wanna meet I'm sure I can find some time, but overall I'd like to know if any of you have gone and what you recommend on doing while in there.

I mean, everyone will suggest Giordano's so I might as well beat them to the punch. There's Michigan Ave and Navy Pier which are fun but more on the touristy and shopping side. If you're into theater there's Second City and the Neo-Futurists, which are fun and definitely worth going to. Theater in Chicago is more minimalist and more improv-driven than New York, but there's also like the Chicago Shakespeare Theater off of Navy Pier. There's a lot of outdoor music venues with fair priced lawn seating, you should be able to find something to go to.

This trip has been somewhat improvised. We just got the plane tickets and today we reserved the hotel. I am, though, looking for things to do at night, most of the sights are usually open on daytime but there is nothing really i can find to do at night (i am sure i am not looking hard enough) but you talking about outdoor music venues gives me hope that i will be getting the most of this trip. I dont mind not sleeping for a week to do so of that is what it takes.

Millenium Park usually has some sort of free concert series. Given when you're going, it might be a little late in the season, but it's still worth checking out. Millenium Park is really pretty.

Also I call bullshit on not finding anything at night. Chicago is home to the blues and improv. That shit is all over the place.
