Sorry for interrupting the thread below me :P

1.) How do you edit spells (e.g: Change "Stim Packs" effect to something else)
2.) How do you auto-mine?

None.

1) You will need plugins (GPTP) and EXE edits (a few can be found in Firegraft I think) for this.
2) You will need plugins for this. The exact details are fuzzy to me as I have never tried to implement this particular feature. However, there is someone who has implemented it. Try asking them in their mod project thread. (Not sure which one it is - one of the most recent threads in the mod project forum.)

Thanks! How do I use plugins and do I need a specific version of FG?

Plugins involve developing your own code that is loaded into SCBW. The GPTP itself is just a Visual Studio C++ project with a lot of prewritten code that sets the basis for different effects.

GPTP and FG are both SCBW version-sensitive. Particular versions of the tools work for particular versions of SCBW.

Fortunately, SCBW is probably going to be on 1.16.1 for a long time, and FG and GPTP are both up to date and can be found on http://broodwarai.com/ . (The forums, that is.)

👻 👾 👽 💪

For number 2, in DatEdit go to Units.dat and click AI Actions. In the Human Idle slot, change it to Move to Harvest Minerals. They will move to the closest mineral patch at the start of the game and when they are built.

To do it with plugins would be similar -- Find idle SCVs, and set their order code to the same order as before (unless you want to be even more specific about which mineral patch they go to ... There should be orders for that too).

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
