Just Here For The Pie

http://www.slendergame.com/

Simple yet terrifyingly scary, the game Slender drops you in a sandbox map where you must collection eight scattered pages while avoiding the enemy Slender Man.

You are said to be an unknown woman with only the goal of collecting all eight pages in mind. You are equipped with nothing more than a slowly dying flashlight and a camera with a nice, somewhat pointless zoom option. While the flashlight does nothing more than prevent you from being blinded by the darkness of the world (and said to make it less likely to lose), your camera does an excellent job of warning you when Slender Man is in the vicinity. Your camera also does a startling job of scaring the heck out of you when this happens.

Your environment is a dark and eerie forest full of different monuments from which you can usually come across the pages you are seeking. They range from things as simple as large rocks and twisted trees to man-made foundations and obscure pillars. These different locations are reasonably spaced apart from one another making for a fun venture through the wilderness.

Your enemy is internet-famous, supernatural, abnormality Slender Man. While there is nothing quite scary about Slender Man at a glance other than the spooky feelings you may get from his lack of facial features, his ability to just suddenly appear anywhere at anytime leaves you with your head under the covers. The general feeling of Slender Man is that he is always trailing right behind you, always watching you. While this may be partially true, this will not stop him from dropping out of the blue in front or next to you at any given time forcing you to turn tail and run back the way you came. (This also leads to frustrating moments of getting lost.) Looking at Slender Man for too long throws your character into shock sort of how the monsters in the game Amnesia work. Ultimately, it leads to a game over. Not to mention, coming within too close of a range with Mr. Slender Man concludes with a game over.

Slender can be downloaded for the PC and Mac free across several hosting sites. Links to some of these sites can be found on the unofficial website:

I have been playing this game for the last week now but it still manages to make me jump.
Also, I have been having a ball making different friends play it to see how they react.

My friend Erik made a recording of me playing Slender for the first time. Sadly, it is a rather dull run, but the commentary is kind of interesting as I was pretty scared and saying random things to keep my cool.

None.

Brings back memories of Marble Hornets...

Looks pretty atmospheric and terrifying :D

Red classic.

wth is starcraft

Hmm...I'm not impressed, but I didn't like Marble Hornets. I think your camera freaking out around Slendy comes from Marble Hornets canon. The thing that always bugged me about this is that Slendy abducts children - so why are young adults the ones that seem them - both in the game and in Marble Hornets?

ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

This game's freaky as hell. I played it a few nights ago and it wasn't too terrible, but I jump even when watching comical LPs of it by people like dunkey and RoosterTeeth, so I'm a bit afraid to play it with headphones and in pick blackness. D;

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
