Perhaps ShadowFlare can best answer this. Is it possible to implement a custom server and mod that has a Find Match button on the custom bnet server, such that one could automatically find a match with a similiarly ranked player?
Also, for custom servers such as iCCup, SFR, fish, where did they get their code? Did they make it themselves or is there a download somewhere which someone already made a custom server or what?

It's most likely custom made, and getting it from them is not likely to happen (In regards to matchmaking code). There's probably a BnetD sort of thing around though.
Anything is possible when you are in control of the code, the question would be - would it be worth it to invest in such a venture? In Shadowflare's circumstances, I'd say absolutely not, because the playerbase likely to make use of a service now could be counted on one hand.

I'm not suggesting ShadowFlare implements it (although that would be nice
) but rather a server like iCCup, or else I could set up a server like that myself in the future. Finding games with similiar players seems to be one of the biggest problems new players to iCCup have; this would solve that.
