wth is starcraft

Does anyone use Inkscape? It's a vector program. I really like it, but I haven't figured out how to make textures yet. There are a few filter choices, but it applies the filter to each specific part....and I'll be honest the filters don't look as 'organic' as I want them to. I want to do something closer to making a drawing look like I made it on parchment, or watercolor paper, something like that....not an object made of watercolor, if that makes sense.

The closest I've found is by using "trace bitmap" on an abstract/organic (trees, flowers, etc) photograph. But when I complete that the new object slows down the program like crazy, beyond use.

Are there any other ways?

...You want textures in a vector program.

I'm not sure what I am supposed to say to that, since you aren't supposed to do everything in inkscape. Export the vector object and use it in another image editing program better suited for handling bitmaps/textures like Photoshop.
