I originally made this for a my map for the maplantis contest, but then i found out you cant do any mods and also the map sucked. This was for Duck Hunt, the screen was centered on this picture:

I think its pretty cool, but not very usefull. Maybe a movie scene or something.

I also made another which sucks and i probably shouldnt post but ya...

Modding? C'mon Rory! Make real terrain!

They look fine, but I don't think I could ever find a use for them.

It appears you can do that even without modding, all you need is a lot of pylon sprites. give it another go?

ha the second pic reminded me off a coral reef under water. if you used spacing you might get it almost perfect.

Man, Rory, you really need to learn how to make cliffs, rather than taking pieces from that one cliff piece and using them again and again :P

Very interesting and unique. I first saw the first picture and thought it was a screenshot from some old NES game or something. I like how it changes the perspective from an isometric top view to a more landscape level view.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
