In need of a new soundcard

Hello

So, my soundcard has blown and I need a new one.
The card I have used was pretty satisfying, but apparently creative no longer supports this one (year 2005).
It's the Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic.

I pretty much wanted to have the same but apparently they are no longer being sold (neither officially by creative nor "new" by amazon), so I'll probably need a different one, whether it is creative or not, I don't mind.

Info:
  • PCI
  • no surround needed (using 2.1)
  • low budget, around 100€, less if possible.
  • mostly used for -loud- music

Someone able to suggest me something?
Thanks in advance, SEN!

Still Napping

Oh boi. Not much you'll find better than M-Audio's audiophile line.

Apparently you can grab this for 67€.

None.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

I'm going to kind of hijack your thread here, but hopefully some questions will be answered which will help everyone decide what a good buy is.

I've got a card like this (it says model number sc8768, but from what I can gather it's got identical parts) that I'm not using because I don't care and I'm just using onboard on a fairly new motherboard. Should I be using the sound card instead? Is there a particularly good reason to do so?

NimoStar -- If its any consolation, the human brain would still mop the floor with this bot if it wasn't limited by the mechanical interface

NimoStar -- Well. The bot didn't come up with any new strategy. It just has superhuman micro. Hard to beat that. I reckon even the simplest dedicated chess engines are unbeatable for humans now.

Oops, caught me there, no I haven't. :( I was imagining how the game went. Sorry for that. Watching it now. brb

NimoStar shouted: They were not "Unprepared" that was their fifth loss in a row against the bot. The other replays are also available
that doesn't mean he was prepared. When humans come around with new strategies it often takes weeks until the pros figure out how to shut it down. Oh_Man that's certainly a way more convincing argument for micro being "too good to beat".
