Woah

I am in the process of upgrading the MediaWiki base to the latest version (1.18.1). Until the update is done, there will be some errors popping up on the site. The update will be done in about an hour or so. If errors still persist after that, I'll be doing a lot of tinkering to get the site back online.

I have also added about 6 new extensions to help block spam and prevent bots from messing with the site. Because of this, I've disabled the need for people to register to edit or add pages. People will still need to register to upload things, however.

[UPDATE]
As it turns out, upgrading from 1.16 to 1.18 basically screws up any custom skins. As of right now, the wiki looks like it has no CSS at all. I'll be going back and redoing the skin based on a backup and hopefully fix it. Otherwise I might just go back to 1.16 and not even bother.\

[UPDATE]
Screw 1.18.1, I just changed it back to 1.16. All is well again.

Also forgot to mention that there is a question CAPTCHA on the site now for editing pages that will ask SC related questions.

The new version actually includes some new useful features that were previously add-ons. It might be better waiting for 1.19 though, since it's due out fairly soon?

Will these upgrades apply to the SC1 wiki (such as it is)?

None.

Woah

I can upgrade the SC1 wiki as well, sure. I ended up not upgrading to 1.18, though, so I may just wait to do both when 1.19 is out.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
