Woah

Quote from SCLegacy.com
On June 30, 2009, StarCraft: Legacy was honored to present our first collaboration with Chris "Freespace" Ciocotisan, the fan cinematic StarCraft: First Contact. Its reception from StarCraft fans, critical success, and wide distribution both humbled and rekindled our passion. It inspired us to continue our mutual search to create first-class content for the community. Today, we are proud to present the fruits of those efforts. For the last 16 months, Chris, with a little help from a wide range of contributors and StarCraft Legacy staff, has worked tirelessly to create a technical superior sequel to our first cinematic endeavor. StarCraft: Final Metamorphosis is complete. It depicts several scenes from the events occurring before and during the Brood War era. It was created, like First Contact, to cinematically recreate canonical lore scenes from the games, the books, and other parts of the extended universe and hopefully, for 7 minutes and 30 seconds entertain you, by taking you once more into the heart of the war-torn Koprulu Sector.

Seconded!

This is very very impressive and much better quality than I was expecting. Not quite up to the Blizzard level, but on par, or better, than cinematics from many other game developers. Kerrigan looks a bit mannish, though.

Definitely worth watching.

Hello

Seen this already, though the battle of Kerrigan and Tassadar seems a bit... how to tell?:
- When Tassadar appears next to Kerrigan, is he trying to "hit" her immediately? Seems like he only stays there and moves with very low effort. (around minute 5:05)
- The voice of Tassadar becomes way to unclear as he keeps speaking, the acoustig edit is too heavy in my eyes (ears).

Nevertheless, a very well made video.

Uh, wasn't that just some zealot? Tassadar never used psi blade amirite?

also yea the animation is pretty off but the model for the zealot is great. Kerrigan looks a little more 'grimdark than usual but that's cool.

Hello

I thought it is meant to be the battle in SC1 where Kerrigan faces Tassadar and Tassadar flees in the end (if I remember correctly).
Also, he is not using psi-blades, this blue smoke probably is meant to demonstrate his psi-powers. Zealots cannot blink.
Also, look at the blades of the Dark Templars later in the video, these look like blades.
That's what I think.

Ulrezaj?

Kerrigan's voice and face were off (not like they could get the original VA for it anyway), but still really damn impressive for a fan animation.

Lol @ Korhal using GMT.

Kerrigan was voiced by the original voice actress's daughter. I thought it was pretty close to the original. ;o

Because they can.

everything is high quality, movie cut and organizations is better/more realistic then the overly cheese Wings of Liberty in my opinion. But animations are horrible, besides those of marines and some of tassadar's and maybe dark templars. Need more life in it. Maybe almost all the movements are pretty much linear, i mean non accelerating at places where they should, or have constant accelerations i can't decide, i am not an expert.

EDIT: Just curius, can you include that big ass ship at the beginning of original Starcraft? That would be awesome i guess.

I thought it was the mission where it turns out it was only a hallucination of Tassadar.

The line he makes is word for word from that segment of the game:
"So long as you continue to be so predictable, I need not face you at all. You are your own worst enemy."

I am quite sure that was a 'slo-mo' effect, not the actual speed he was swinging his blade. You can faintly hear the sound of a heart beating.

she/her

Awesome videos, both of them; it's just he character animations that need working on. Even with the slow-mo, you can tell the characters aren't moving very vigorously. Needs to be more visceral.

SeXy!!! Nice Job!!!

As for the statement that tassadar can't blink... pretty sure it was just a fast forward of him cloaking and becoming invisible again... mayby?

What Tassadar did in the video probably had nothing to do with whatever powers he could potentially have. Remember the SC2 cinematic where Zeratul fights Kerrigan? He goes Yoda on the hydralisks and kills like 5 of them in 3 seconds. ;o

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[2026-6-20. : 6:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
