Hey there everyone!
Name: Jesse
Age: 24

I currently attend Job Corps, studying Business Trade. My work based learning through Job Corps is at the Red Cross. Once I graduate, I plan on going back to Washington state and either attend college, or provide computer assistance to those who live in my area.

I've played Starcraft off and on for the past 15 years of my life and have always gone back when I have the urge to play RTS's.
I've created maps off and on, but never got around to finishing them. I'm currently working on a special forces variant that is sure to draw a crowd.
It's soda by the way.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

Hey, I grew up in Washington myself! I moved to Utah for college.

Welcome to SEN. With your record of not completing maps, I'm sure you'll fit in perfectly with the rest of us. :)

Everyone in Canada calls it pop, but soda is of course the correct term.

Given the "15 years" thing, I was thinking this same thing. Awesome. I guess SC is close to 15 years, though. It's weird to think about that.

Sorry, that was a slight exaggeration. I do that.
Or I just forget from old age...
But I'll stick to exaggeration for now.

Hello.

I'm from the future.

In the future, we have StarCraft II.

Oh I'm sorry, I can see why you wanted to come back.

Unfortunately, you'll need to go further into the past, as we also have StarCraft II.

Best of luck.

I've been on and off mapping and have successfully never completed a single one more than 20% in my umm let us say 4 years of playing starcraft and trying to finish a map. just as Roy said. You'll fit in.

Just curious - how the hell did you find your way to SEN?

Either way, take my belated welcome.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[2026-6-20. : 6:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
[2026-6-20. : 3:47 pm]
NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
