Hey! I have a terran missile turret, rebuilt to be a flak cannon, and I'd like to be able to morph it to a missile turret. So I redid some graphics for the flak cannon, took the spore colony and made it the new missile turret, and gave the flak cannon a morph button. You can sit there n click the morph button, but nothing happens... I have the DAT Requirements correct, as well as the button settings. What could be wrong...?

In hindsight, as a little side-note, for a more final version of my mod i'll leave the missile turret alone and make the spore colony my flak cannon. silly me :rolleyes:

There is an EXE Edit in Firegraft that you will have to check. Also if you want the building to complete you will have to edit its construction animation - take a look at one of the Zerg buildings for an example.

I edited the DAT file so it has the construction animation of an addon. Didn't know there was an exe edit, thanks! I'll give that a shot.

Whoops, made a typo - not the construction animation but the actual iscript of the building. If you just copied a Terran building's iscript, it'll freeze at the "almost built" frame, I think you need a sigorder.

Alright! You were right, I had to add the terran buildings into the list of morphable buildings in the exe edit - however I did not fix the script properly, because it freezes at the end of the building process. It says 'add-on complete' then it just sits there with the loading bar completed. The base of the turret is also moved 8 units to the left sometimes :wtfage: I've tried putting in a sigorder as well as a wait command, referencing both the missile turret, terran addons, and zerg buildings for ideas. nothing has worked :><:

Alright, I finally realized what you meant, and found the construction animations' iscripts and changed them, but now the game crashes. I'm assuming I need to make an entirely new one just for the turret?

Well, I tried to make a new animation script for the turret, but it still doesn't work. It just freezes at the completion stage. However, you can assign an SCV to build it, but it builds it back into a flak cannon rather than the missile turret :wtfage:

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
