On the contrary, the review aspect is likely the only reason this thread wasn't closed on inspection. Posting videos with little to no discussion is better suited for the shoutbox.
@payne: It was interesting, but I didn't laugh. The Dear Sister version made me laugh when I first saw it, though that's probably just personal preference.
I liked the cat, the airplane and the dog one. The other ones weren't so good.
I don't know what's wrong with just posting videos, as long as they're actually good and not completely random crap, as is what usually gets posted in the shoutbox.
Probably some people have already seen this, but I still crack up every time.

The problem is this is a spam thread. If everyone is just posting video links with no purpose, then they might as well stick to posting them in the shoutbox as that would be more suitable. Typically the rule of thumb is that if a topic is made that is better suited in the shoutbox because no discussion will ensue, then it will be closed. I see this as being no different than when someone posts a link in the shoutbox and someone else says "LOL THAT WAS FUNNY" and then the link disappears in the sea of shouts.

Except there is a big difference, because if you're not in the shoutbox at the time the link is posted, you don't see it. Whereas when a link is posted here, anyone can come back days later and still see it.
Which I why I think we need to insist on good quality videos. I'd also hesitate to put a length limit in of 5-6 minutes, because there's no point putting in videos that no one is going to watch.

You can view past pages of the shoutbox and do that as well. I don't see how that makes it any more relevant, though, as half the videos in here are supposed to be funny or amusing (like the ones people post daily in the shoutbox). If one of them spawns a legitimate discussion, then it should have its own topic (i.e. http://www.staredit.net/topic/13592/ or http://www.staredit.net/topic/13654/ or http://www.staredit.net/topic/13368/ ).
We've always closed threads that were just meant for people to post random funny things like this when no discussion ensues. And frankly, "lol that video was good" isn't really discussion. Roy was absolutely right in saying that the "comment" idea of this thread was the only thing keeping it open, and even after that, some people still didn't seem to get it.
Actually forget it.
Closed.
