Standardization

AFAIK Wikipedia has a general layout for articles, especially for specific kinds of articles. I believe it would be a good idea for us to do the same.

Also, things need to be standardized more beyond that. We currently have a half-useful mess of unindexed articles and tutorials and half-finished references with incomplete data and ridiculous formatting (if you can call it that).

There should be a Reference format, a Tutorial format, and perhaps others as there is need. Maybe a List format, or something like that.

The SC2 mapmaking community is just so small and varied that we aren't going to get easy-to-understand material without some kind of system that everyone should adhere to. No one else has been taking action on this point, so I figured I'd open discussion on it to find out why.

shmeeps was the first one to try to bring it in, but he left. :(
Then when GWN was about to get launched, I proposed a start for some standardization, but Devlin told me it wasn't my job and that he would do it, but he didn't. (Not trying to sound arrogant, just saying the facts)
Then came Wangbot, which successfully (imo) introduced some kind of format for a part of the Data category.
And now there's you. Let's hope this works out! :awesome:
</GWN's history of standardization>

Yep, good idea. :) Let me copy-paste the very few I had already done:
GalaxyWiki.net Convention

- "See Also" categories should be sorted alphabetically by the title of the linked page. (Title with link - Facultative Description)
- Hotkeys should be bolded.
- Field names (such as "Unit - Name") from within the Data Editor should be bolded.

Woah

When did I say I would? I'm confused.

EDIT:
I remember saying it wasn't your job to make up rules for the Wiki when it should be up to the collective Admins. I also remember you made the sample article or whatever as well. I don't remember talk of Standardization, though.

I guess it's my crappy memory that's failing me once again. D:

Woah

I just really can't remember talking about that, so maybe it's my memory failing. :/

What examples would you have of this? I've kept all my "See Also" sections identical, and we don't have any uncategorized pages.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.
