Blizzard Christmas Contests

Blizzard has announced two Christmas contests: a card-making contest and a dessert-making contest!
Quote
One Blizzard holiday tradition involves creating a festive greeting card to share the joy of the season... with a unique Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo touch. We're inviting you to join us in spreading the holiday cheer by crafting a Blizzard-themed holiday card of your own featuring characters or themes from the Warcraft, StarCraft, or Diablo series.
More info can be found here.

Everyone enjoys the holiday tradition of sharing a meal with family and friends -- and desserts are big part of the reason why. This year, we're hungry to see you spread holiday joy from your kitchen by cooking up sweet culinary creations -- and finishing them off with a Blizzard touch.
More info can be found here.

The top 5 winners of each contest receive the following:
- Razer Banshee Gaming Headset
- Razer Marauder Gaming Keyboard
- Razer Spectre Gaming Mouse
- Signed Collector's Edition of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
- Signed Collector's Edition of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Plus, don't forget Blizzard's comic contest, at http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/community/contests/comic/

New Community Projects

Shangri La

Alright, so apparently there is some interest in making this into an SC2 project to get a hands-on feel for the features. I am not aiming to make this a public-hit, it is more so a test for our own ends to further the project. For quite some time, this is going to be an SEN-only map and your friends can play, but I don't want to release it until it is in a beta-type status. That is far in the future though... So let's just toss that aside. Anyone who doesn't know what a MOBA is, the term was coined by Guinsoo who created the ideas for recipes and runes in Defense of the Ancients, but is now working for League of Legends. It stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, which defines what Defense of the Ancients(DotA), Aeon of Strife(AoS), Heroes of Newerth(HoN) and League of Legends(LoL) all are.
More information on that one is available at http://www.staredit.net/topic/12938/ and http://www.staredit.net/topic/12947/

SEN Arena is a new map being developed based on the contributions of various SEN members. Each member involved is making his or her own hero that will be included in the final map, as well as helping to create any arenas that may be playable in the final release. Ultimately each hero will be balanced out and usable in various game modes and team types.

If you'd like to contribute a hero, have any arena ideas, or you'd like to read more about the project, check out SEN Arena.

Red classic.

"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."

This is showing new community projects. Plus with Swarmed Heroes being constantly updated, it just seems like Infiltration RPG is unnecessary.

It's just that I saw that Swarmed Heroes actually had potential, yet it is still missing some features to make it interesting, so I keep updating it until I have some stuff to do on Infiltration RPG.
Currently, all we're waiting for is a Terrainer: Temp and I would like to field-test the spells by creating some specific scenes (remember Swarmed Heroes' spells are slightly modified spells taken from Infiltration RPG to fit the gameplay). :(

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
