Hello

So, I've cleaned the search code and fixd a terrible mistake I've done before, causing the server to search for datas having 20 filters, duplicating every time you press refresh :(

Sorry for that shit, to ensure I found it I want you to search for stuff and report here if it loads for ages or SEN crashed.
Thanks in advance.

No problems so far, but the search needs to include topic titles, not just post content.

:payne:

If you're talking of the Quick Search, it isn't even working for me. :(
Whenever I search for something, the page becomes all white.

Oops, sorry, my fault!

I've searched for "reenabled" and it took years to find the 2 results it has found, which didn't include this topic. So yep, Nude is right, search titles as well.
And I'd say that showing the matching titles before matching contents would make sense. And highlight the searched words too. :)

None.

Master has given Dobby a doctorate! Dobby is free!

Searching "time zone" on just the StarEdit Network forum takes an obscenely long amount of time to return:

A Staredit Network error has occured:
MySQL Error '2006': MySQL server has gone away
Query failed: SELECT * FROM sessions WHERE s_ip='198.30.146.68' AND s_id='e50ca0363a3740d1251e6ed43c0c3932' LIMIT 1

Please contact administration with all the details.

Sorry, it was posted in another thread :/

I have occasional SQL errors even when not searching...

Nov 8 2010, 10:19 pm DevliN Post #12

Woah

Yeah, same, but I get the error every time I search. And while searching, the rest of SEN just stops loading for me in other tabs.

Hello

So I tested around and it lagged when Is tarted the search. But, afterwards, when I browse through the pages, it becomes lagfree, same for you?

Just did a search with no lag/errors whatsoever.

Woah

I finally got a search to work, but it took 79 seconds. The following 4 searches I made took about 10 seconds each. I guess the issue is the first search. Before the updates, the search was almost instant for me. What changed, just the way it accessed the database?

Hello

There is a session set, did you create the first session right today? Or when you visited the search did it long to load and then it displayed results of your earlier search?

I changed some Session storing system and yes reduced the # of queries by one.

Please report errors in the Staredit.Network forum.

Woah

My first search of the day was the 79 second one. The follow 10-second searches were different and showed the results for what I was looking for.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[06:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
[03:47 pm]
NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[03:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
