Record Movie trigger function

I need to record a map. There's a "Record Movie" function but all that it appears to do is generate an error message. I have yet to find a screen recorder which doesn't cause massive lag and brokeness (except for Camtasia, but my trial expired and I refuse to pirate). Help?
