So apparently today I have encountered this person named MrrLL, who claims to have banned me with no warnings of any kind for having "more bots than authorized" and "advertising hacks in profile". Which is obviously quite interesting, because I had not known you guys were world renown for banning people only for the lulz. (that means without actually saying "dood that is wrong"). The last time we had a contraversion, you asked me to stop and I did. So what's the huge difference here? It would be a bit nicer to be unbanned due to that I like hanging around chatting with people in Op SEN, but it appears the world is a bit less kind than that.

Which brings me to the point, I didn't know you guys also IP-ban people for saying a one-sentence harrasment about SEN. Hmm hmm... Check what we have here.
Are you sure MrrLL is not abusing a bit too much?

(02:29:44) Powder_Keg: MrrLL
(02:30:01) Powder_Keg: theres a guy spoofing ur name, and hosting a game called "Op Sen is full of FAGS
(02:30:16) Powder_Keg: or was that you? O.o
(02:30:19) MrrLL: hilarious
(02:30:24) MrrLL: nah, the guy that I banned is raging
(02:30:44) MrrLL: that's really funny lol, i feel proud to have someone put forth so much effort :)
(02:30:51) CabbageMaster joined using StarCraft BroodWar (8 wins).
(02:30:57) CabbageMaster: you guys are all fucking fags
(02:31:00) CabbageMaster left after 10s.
(02:31:08) MrrLL: lol, a drive-by insult
(02:31:14) MrrLL: .ipban cabbagemaster
(02:31:15) SEN: User "cabbagemaster" IPBanned.
(02:31:20) Heinermann: eh?
(02:31:32) MrrLL: lots of trolls on tonight

This guy banned me out of the blue for having a bot. I thought the rule on bots was deprecated? I mean, seeing as Excalibur didn't even ban me... Who is MrrLL anyway?

Woah

We do ban for having too many bots, hence the authorization topic. And I'm not sure what the issue is here, you were banned for saying Op SEN being full of fags? If Op SEN is full of fags and you clearly don't like that, why do you care about not being able to come back to Op SEN?

I only had one in the channel. And I didn't say anything against SEN; I'm unrelated to Zhuinden.

I do believe that's just an example of how easily and frequently ipbans are invoked; they seem to be tossed around like something with no negative consequences whatsoever.

I didn't say SEN was full of fags. Another guy said that. And he was banned only for saying that. He joined to say one sentence, left, and he was IP-banned immediately!

Woah

I'm not really in support of or against Merrell's actions, but I don't see what the issue is in that case. If you're going to complain about Op SEN, then why would you want to be there?

EDIT:
I'm gonna close this. If anyone wants to bring it up to Merrell, do it via PM.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
