So I decided to try my hand at remaking one of the awesomest SC1 maps for 1v1. The new terrain makes it hard to copy ISOM over without squishing everything tight from both sides so I had to do quite a bit of rearranging to get it to work. If anyone has any thoughts about balance issues as the map stands now, or if anyone knows how to fix the issue I'm getting with ramps (the bottom, natural ramps have to be broken up or the top one will disappear every time I try to add them) that would be great, because right now the ramps are the big thing that I can't reproduce perfectly. The texturing, doodads, and whatnot will wait until I have the map itself balanced and good to go for competitive play (I hope to get this published before the end of the beta, hopefully).

Anyways, map's attached, here's the mandatory pictures.

Looks good =D

How much resources are there in those mineral fields blocking the paths?

I saw a topic about SCBW to SC2 map ports at teamliquid.net and then I saw this topic and I was wondering if you showed your map there. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=122171

Also, it doesn't seem like anyone has done a Ride of the Valkyries port yet, so yours could be the first.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
