SCMDraft crashes when saving the 40th revision of the 0th version of my Volcano Run map. Crash occurs even when no changes have been made. I can remove all sounds and save the map without a crash, but any other alterations on top of that lead to a crash.

Weirder still is this little quirk: I can still use the editor while it's behind the "Something bad happened" message. In fact, I can even use File>Save and File>Save As.... The editor only crashes when I click a button on the error dialog.

So I guess what I'm wondering is, what the hell is going on and can someone fix this, because while I can still edit, I'm worried that saving with a "Something bad happened" may lead to map corruption in the future. (Actually, the map may already be corrupted. It looks normal in Classic Trigger Editor and the Strings look fine, but I haven't actually played any of the glitched maps in SC yet.)

Maps attached. v0d39 is a previous iteration with no bug. v0d40 is glitched. v0d40 nosound is v0d40 saved with sounds removed. v0d40 test lol delete me was saved with "Something bad happened" on screen, by opening FIle>Save As... after the error message appeared.

I can save those maps fine. Try renaming/deleting backupDB.scmdDB in your SCMDraft2 folder and save your map again. If that file gets too large it's been known to cause crashes.

Yep, that fixed it. It was at 2.00GB. Topic has served its purpose! :D

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
