How is it that you change damage? I've gone to the units weapon, and changed the field Damage Point, which looks like the only field with a enterable value, but no change is made at all. The new damage amount doesn't even appear on the unit in-game. For example, on the Immortal, I changed the Damage Point to 35.00, and in-game it still displays 20. wtf??

You have to edit the weapons "effect". Once you've found the effect for the weapon, let's say 'C-10 Canister Rifle (Damage)' for the weapon 'C-10 Canister Rifle' obviously, enter the damage value that you want in the 'Amount' field.

I hope the brief description helps you out!
