I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

I'm currently messing around with EUDs. My question is related to modding because of that.

What I did:
-Give Duran (Terran) weapon95 (flechette grenade)
-give weapon95 splash(enemy) attack
-weap95 inner splash [00 00] 00 00 to 5
-weap95 middle splash [00 00] 00 00 to 17
-weap95 outer splash [00 00] 00 00 to 30
-weap95 icon[00 00] 00 00 to Grenade Icon
-weap95 max range [00 00 00 C0] to 160 (datedit: 10)
-weap125 (duran's canister rifle) target flags 00 03 [00 03] to 02 (air only)
-weap95 attack angle [40] 60 80 80 to 16
-weap125 max attack range [00 00 00 C0] to 160 {unit in bunker picks target with weapon with highest range}

That are my changes to Duran & his weapon and the unused weapon95.

So you can see that Duran's max weapon range (both weapons) is 10 in datedit. I've tested it and he can shot as far as Raynor. So that works.

BUT my Duran is still aiming at units that are at range between 10 and 12 instead of shoting a building which is inside his weapon range (10).
I've put a Raynor in the Bunker, too. He directly targets the building.

If the units walk away/are killed he shots the building, too.

Obviously the game still checks for units for Duran's standard attack range.

Does this happen because the range of that unit inside the bunker is hardcoded or did I miss something to edit?

she/her

Units inside a bunker normally have slightly increased range. Might be that.
Also, you might have accidentally changed the minimum range to 10, as opposed to the maximum range.

I found a mistake that I made.
I've calculated the address of duran's canister range wrong (I've accidentially modified some data in the maxhits section.)

I now can confirm that both ranges are equal...
Anyway, the problem stays. :(

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
