My fan is going crazy.

Recently, my fan has been going crazy, making these loud noises, doing it for a minute or so. I would say every 4-5 minutes this happens. Sometimes it happens in unison with a disconnect to the internet.
I tried:
Restarting my computer, turning off my computer for 3 days straight to give it a break and I have also tried smacking the hell out of the top of the computer :bleh: , but no success. If anyone can tell me whats wrong with it, please tell me. The sound can probably be heard 10-15 feet away.
I felt around, it doesn't seem to be hot, but heck, what do I know?

The sound is not scratching, grinding etc. It's just the air/fan.

Probably power supply problems. Ask Ex for details.

The sword and the faith

It would have nothing to do with the PSU. Its probably just dusty. Compressed air will fix it.

I have the same problem due to the fact that my computer is in a cabinet. Pull it out before it overheats. If you don't have your computer in a cabinet with no space, disregard this post.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

The fan could just be old and the bearing began to die. If that's the case you would have to replace it.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.
