I'm in serious need of testers for my new map, which is HoI: Battle for Arrakis.

What is it all about?

Basicly it's a clone of HoI: TGS n' Alliance Asia concept with a few modest changes.

What is a total change, is that Garrisons that protect certain territories can be moved, hence u can have the most important area well protected, and the least important even unprotected, the movement of garrisons is done via a Burrow action of a Drone. (This is already fully functional.) I Think it will give a new touch to HoI experience. Also additional Garrison units can be bought as normal infantry, which lets the player to create a viable defence.

Players are divided into 3 groups (Not Allied.)
*Major Houses (Harkonnen, Atreides, Ordos.)
*Minor Houses (Boro, Richese, Bene Tleilax, Moritani etc.)
*House Corrino (Emperor.)

Players wage war over Arrakis and mine spice using Harvesters, directly money comes from I.C (supply depots.).

Spice is gathered and can be used to:
*Bribe Emperor (Provide him with additional fund's.)
*Advance Technology Level.
*Upgrade.

Emperor can demand any number of spice he wish, and the players have to comply with the request, if they dont Emperor can break the seal of Alliedgiance, which is equal to him having right to send troops to Arrakis, similarly players can just deny Emperors rule and stop sending him funds, which have the same effect.

Point is pissing Emperor at start might be extremelly dangerous since he is having way more than the players, yet giving him to much spice will cause him to grow so strong that players wont be able to fight him.

Emperor wins if he accumulate a certain amount of Spice.
Normal player wins if he take over Arrakis n defeat the Emperor.

Some Screen, Gameplay of Harkonnen.

What i've Done so far, is the Terrain, Income System, and Unit Creating Module, which is basicly 70% of the work done with the map, hence i really need testers to help me fix eventual bug's, and alone i cant cr8 games on bnet.

It might help if you'd attach the map. Me and a group of buddies could do testing work for you.

Drop "Ordos" and replace with Vernius (Ix), and you'll be closer to the books. Ordos was invented for the games.

This isnt strictly based on Frank Herberts Novel, more on the gaming series, also House IX is one of the minor houses, and is called here "Novbruns."
If i would really want it to be Book based i'd have to limit the Houses to Atreides and Harkonnen only, which probably i will in a diffrent version, but the base is for gameplay purpose mostly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Family_Houses_in_Dune

You will see that several houses were mentioned in Frank's books, with the rest turning up in kiddy-Herberts cash machine.

I would be willing to test this, but could you please provide what time frames you are on and when you would want to test this map? That would be very helpful to know.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
