ORAI v2.01
November 2007

Fixes for this Setup version:
* correct button text for probe-droid
* correct hotkeys for both Scraft 1.15 and 1.15.1 "patcher"
* UMS mission briefing screen crash (logo.smk)
* correct weapon icon for stormtrooper and Y-wing.
* correct "insane" commando portrait

ORAI v2.00 incorporates an auto-downgrader that will patch Starcraft to version 1.15. All grafted modifications require a specific version of Starcraft and this patcher hopes to provide for a more user-friendly edition. The patching occurs whenever a Difficulty level is selected from the main screen. (red boxes)

To return to the latest Starcraft, users have several options:
1. exit ORAI and connect to Battlenet thru Starcraft.
2. Download and keep handy the latest patch from Blizzard
3. Run patch Starcraft from the extras screen.

ORAI was created out of a need for ppl to enjoy playing this classic mod without a 2nd player. In doing so, some minor things were altered in order for the computer Ai to function properly. The utmost care was put into this rearrangement as to retain the creators original vision. The end result is very close to the original.

ORAI.exe can be launched from the Start Menu via the BroodWarAi Project/ORAI or you can create a shortcut to the file on your desktop.

ORAI uses a Mirrored Unit Ai that actually builds units that look identical to the player, but are in fact separate units with different requirements. ORAI's computer melee Ai also has access to several units that the player does not.

*You can view the included TvP LunaAi.rep to see the difference in each Ai. The replay will play differently for each difficulty level.

Visit ORAI's Home Page for further details and the latest updates.

ORAI Requirements:
* Starcraft BroodWar

Open Rebellion Total Conversion (ORTC)
--------------------------------------
Beta 2.0

-----------
Multiplayer
-----------

ORTC is multiplayer-only and works on Battle.net as long as everyone in the game is using the same version. This should not be an issue with the release, but will be later on when patches for ORTC become available.

When starting or joining a multiplayer game, choose either "Imperial" or "Rebel" as your race. Do NOT choose "Zerg" or "Random." Doing so may cause the game to crash as the Zerg are NOT a playable race in Open Rebellion. A future patch may allow you to choose Random.

Computer players are currently broken, as Starcraft's default AIscript is incompatible with ORTC. Several people have expressed a desire to write a custom AIscript and a conversion list will be made available to the public in support of this. Expect the ability to play against the computer in a future patch.

Notes
-----

I've been working on this off and on for over five years now, but various real-life factors chipped away at Beta 2's original featurelist. This public release of Beta 2 has two factions, the Alliance to Restore the Republic (also known as the Rebel Alliance) and the Galactic Empire. There are 27 units, all of which have complete attack sound effects, and 26 out of the 27 have finished or mostly finished graphics (not all units have new death animations). There are 30 buildings and 28 out of the 30 have new graphics and sound effects.
Technology trees on both sides have been greatly altered and many units do not have a counterpart in vanilla Starcraft.

There are quite a few incomplete items however, including spell effects, unit portraits and voices, as well as most visual elements of the interface. Placeholder art and sound effects are used wherever possible.

More detailed unit, building, and tech tree info will be posted on the ORTC website at http://openrebellion.smempire.org in the near future.
