Irradiate is a Terran spell cast by the Science Vessel and by Magellan. It costs 75 energy by default.

Irradiated units have a gas cloud animation applied to them. The status lasts for 600 frames (about 25 seconds on Fastest). Any organic unit touching this cloud (including the irradiated unit itself) loses about 3 hit points (853/256) every eight frames; armor is not taken into account when the damage is inflicted. A unit touching the cloud for the entire duration of the spell will receive a total of 249.9 damage. Burrowed units are not affected by the splash damage, but can be directly affected by the spell.

Triggers

Irradiate may be applied using triggers. The spell can be applied to an area by irradiating Zerg Scourges, moving them to the area, and replacing them using timed triggers when they expire. A unit can be irradiated by moving it, irradiating it, and then moving it back; if such a movement would be problematic, then the effect can be simulated by having an irradiated Scourge follow the target.

To irradiate with triggers, you need to create an isolated enclosure. Inside this enclosure, you must pre-place a computer-controlled Cocoon with 0HP and a Raszagal Corsair. The Corsair must be attacking the Cocoon constantly. When you wish to irradiate something, create a Terran Science Vessel (owned by the same player that owns the Cocoon), move the target unit to the enclosure, and create several 1HP Terran Civilians (belonging to the Cocoon's owner) at the enclosure. The Terran Science Vessel will respond to the Raszagal's attacks by irradiating the target unit; the Civilians will die instantly from splash damage. You can detect when the spell completes by detecting their deaths.
